FOOTLOOSE

With Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, Dennis Quaid, Andie MacDowell, Ray McKinnon, Miles Teller, Kim Dickens

Written by Dean Pitchford, Craig Brewer

Directed by Craig Brewer

The Kevin Bacon starring '80s dance flick became a cult classic in its own right, something not likely to happen with this re-make.

A new kid coming to live with his uncle in a rural town finds himself the center of a religiously fueled opposition to dancing. The preacher's son died in a post-party car crash, so he enforced oppressive laws to keep the town's kids in check. So naturally the new guy in town becomes the target – and the preacher suspects he has eyes for his rebellious daughter.
Making friends and coming up against jock jerks, the focus becomes the fight to get the banned prom reinstated.
Thankfully it is not wall-to-wall dancing or something along the lines of the Step Up movies.

A cameo appearance by Bacon would've been cool, but they did include the VW beetle and Quite Riot's song Metal Health (like the original).
